My mother taught us that when you visit someone, take a small thank you gift if at all possible. In today's society, I believe that politeness has fallen by the wayside. I know I recently went to someone's home for dinner and didn't take anything. I felt guilty about it the whole time. In fact, I am going to send something to them today to just say "thank you" for all the time and effort it took to prepare for the visit.

When you visit a blog, do you leave a comment? I am forming that habit and it is opening the door to friendships and learning experiences. It is a brand new way to make connections. Try it! You'll like it!

Yes, I'm taking your suggestion and leaving a comment. It's so nice to have you visiting the Inkwell!

I agree most of the old 'standards' in manner have slipped away. I think we've gotten very isolated now and I'm just as guilty. When I was growing up people stopped in to each other's houses just to chat. That seems to happen less and less. (oh dear, my house is such a mess when I'm writing non-stop that it's just as well!)

Hi Christine!

I love meeting bloggers and I'm thrilled when they leave comments. I always try to reciprocate. I'm so excited you're going to join our book club! We are really hoping to infuse new life into it. I'm going to post a list of all our book choices today. I look forward to chatting with you more.

And while I'm here I'll wave to my friend Debra above me! (Joy waves)

Hey, appreciate it for taking the effort to do this. I like your webpage, although it took a sluggish reader like me some time to via throughout entire page and the many comments.
